Trojan Man and Mascots 4 a Cure
During Year 1 of the program, we received an email from Derek with Mascots for a Cure to participate in an attempt to break the world record for the most mascots in one location! The group headed to the University of Penn to participate and support what would become our number one friends in the mascot world; Mascots for a Cure! We are currently in Year 5 of the program and we still work year round with Mascots for a Cure! Along with Trojan Man making appearances at Mascots for a Cure events, students of PHS often volunteer to play the part of Jurdy and Sir Roland Braveheart at different functions. If you'd like more information on Mascots for a Cure, you can check their website, www.mascots4acure.org or you can visit their Facebook or Twitter profiles.
Derek / Chris - Thank you for giving the Trojan Men a cause to get behind and welcoming us with open arms!

A Gathering of Mascots
Our first big event as a group! We traveled to the University of Penn in an attempt to break the world record for "The Most Mascots in One Location" while raising money for childhood cancer research and awareness / Mascots for a Cure. We also attempted to break the world record for the "Largest Mascot Dance" by doing the Electric Slide, in costume! Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful but Trojan Man and Pottstown High School made life-long friends in Derek and Mascots for a Cure! After the event, we headed over to the infamous ROCKY STEPS and Trojan Man along with a few other mascot friends stormed the Art Museum, Rocky-style!
Good Morning Philadelphia
The Trojan Men of PHS were invited to be on Good Morning Philadelphia with Mascots for a Cure as part of the "Lace Up and Twist Away Childhood Cancer" Tour! Two Trojan Men ( Jon and Owen )and a student, playing the part of Jordy ( Anthony ) , appeared in the segment that helped spread awareness for childhood cancer research.
Once filming was complete, the Trojan Men headed over to Rosa's Fresh Pizza to deliver a check for $472 to our friend, Mason. This check would go towards helping feed the homeless community of Philadelphia. Recently, Rosa's closed both of locations in Philadelphia but your service to the homeless community of Philadelphia will never be forgotten. Mason, if you read this, THANK YOU! Thank you for giving the Trojan Men a cause to get behind!
After lunch, the group made their way to Independence Park to continue to spread awareness for childhood cancer research and Mascots for a Cure. At the park, Trojan Men Aaron and Austin did the honors of twisting, while Trojan Man Todd got to play the part of Jordy!

1st Ever Philadelphia City Hall Mascot Parade
The first ever Mascot Parade around City Hall in Philadelphia... of course Trojan Man had to attend! Trojan Man ( Jon ) and Football Trojan Man ( Zach ) were involved along with two other students playing the part of Jurdy ( Kyleaf ) and Sir Roland Braveheart ( Nate ). All the participants in the parade collected money along the parade route that went towards Mascots for a Cure. This money was used to help provide assistance and FUN TIMES for families with children that are battling cancer.
Lace Up an Twist Away Childhood Cancer Tour
Mascots for a Cure wanted to thank Pottstown High School for their continued support so they made PHS a stop on their "Lace Up and Twist Away Childhood Cancer" Tour! It was on that day that Mr. Woodley and Trojan Man were knighted by Sir Roland Braveheart for all of their work to help fight childhood cancer! Trojan Man Jon also picked up another Mascot Challenge victory that day by defeating Sir Roland in a Mascot Challenge! We also filmed a school-wide TWIST video to help raise awareness for childhood cancer!
Mini Golf Mascot Party
Along with a few mascot friends and the Philadelphia Avengers, Trojan Man hosted a mascot mini golf party to help raise money for Mascots for a Cure! The first year, Trojan Man Conor was victorious and was crowned the first Mascot King of the Green! This win also came with the prestigious championship belt! The next year though, Trojan Man Jon came back to win the belt from Conor to whom he lost to the year prior! Special thank you to all our mascot friends, the Philadelphia Avengers and the local businesses and individuals who sponsored holes at our mini golf fundraisers!
DuPont Hospital Visit
Due to our friendship with Mascots for a Cure, the Trojan Men of PHS got to participate in their first ever hospital visit. We met our friends at Nemours / Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to brighten up the day of patients there. The Trojan Men ( Mr. Woodley and Jon Jon ) along with Sir Braveheart ( Austin ) and Jurdy ( Aaron ) danced to The Twist in the lobby of the hospital with patients and parents! After our time at the hospital was up, we headed to the University of Delaware where we got to met YouDee and Baby Blue before filming another Twist Away Childhood Cancer video!
It was at duPont that we were reunited with an old friend, Mavrik! He was the winner of the 50/50 raffle at the Trojan Baseball Bowling event! It was our pleasure to be there as Mavrik was knighted by Sir Braveheart and became a Mascots for a Cure Courageous Knight! Unfortunately, Mavrik passed in April of 2018 but his smile and bravery will forever live on through his memory! It was an honor to meet you, Mavrik!
